Recession proof your thinking!

As the country continues to experience a downturn in the economy, everyone is forced to take a closer look at their finances.  For some this may merely be a time to adjust  household budgets, or spend less on non essentials, while others less fortunate are facing the daunting prospect of losing their employment, businesses or even some their homes.

So how about those who seem to be less affected? Do they have abundant savings stashed somewhere?  Maybe, but not necessarily so. Perhaps they just recognise that circumstances no matter how dire will never remain the same. They are better prepared especially in their thinking to ride the waves until they get to shore.

Top tips to recession proof your thinking.

  • Control your thoughts - you create your world by what you choose to dwell on. If you dwell constantly on the negative, it will become your reality. Keep your cool in times of turbulence.
  • Be solution oriented - talk about possible solutions to your financial situation rather than talk incessantly about the problem. Being proactive is a great motivator to change.
  •  Channel your creativity - engage all your senses to come up with a plan that will see you through the tough times! What do you have in 'your hand' that can keep you grounded and ultimately see you through?
