Are you ready for that job? You have been considering the advertised position, or thinking about the promotion. What next? Ask for the job Many people want to make the change, wish for it, feel they deserve it, but dont actually ask for it. What does 'ask for it' mean in your case? Perhaps you need to download the application form or speak to your line manager. Whichever the case may be, take the necessary step. When you ask for the job, you want to be clear in your communication. Show your interest in the position, let it be known that you plan to and are looking foward to making a strong positive contribution to the organisation. Your interest will come through in your application. Know your limits When you are invited to an interview, be clear about your ability to do the job and make that clear in your presentation. Ensure that the interviewer is in no doubt as to your capability. Address any concerns that they may have about you succeeding in the new role by proactively discussing any plans you have io increase your skill or knowledge base. Be clear on follow-up After an interview concludes don't make any assumptions. Ask what comes next, find out what the next step is and when the final decision will be made. Don't be afraid that you may seem pushy, you will actually show how passionate you are about the job.
